Broadband Ready Communities (BBRC) Program

Overview

The Broadband Ready Communities (BBRC) Program seeks to increase opportunities for investment in broadband infrastructure deployment within municipalities throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. This program will work to reduce procedural, policy, and permitting barriers to broadband deployment at the municipal level and to encourage broadband infrastructure investment within participating communities.

A participating municipality can register for the program on a rolling basis.

Eligible entities include:

  • PA County
  • PA Municipality/Township
Funding

This program does not provide funding.

To participate in the program, and to be designated as a Broadband Ready Community, eligible entities must complete the following steps:

  1. Review the BBRC Program Guidelines
  2. Establish a Municipal Broadband Champion. The role of the Municipal Broadband Champion is to serve as a single point of contact between the Pennsylvania Broadband Development Authority (PBDA) and a participating municipality to encourage efficient communication.
  3. Complete the Broadband Ready Communities Worksheet.
  4. Complete and submit a Municipal Resolution, found at the end of the Program guidelines.
