Tech Molded Plastic completes Website Upgrade

Tech Molded Plastics is a solution oriented, full-service supplier of engineering, design, precision tooling and custom injection molded plastics. Located in Meadville (Crawford County), PA, the family owned business was founded in 1972 in the back of a rented garage. Since then, it has grown to become a key employer in the community with 125 employees. The company is focused on innovation, training and technology and exemplifies the competitive spirit and entrepreneurship of a Made In America product and company.

Tech Molded Plastics needed to upgrade their website. The site was manually updated through HTML code and was not designed with the necessary functionality to work well on mobile devices. In addition, effective website design, development, optimization and integration with social media and CRM based contact management system has become critical for brand awareness and depth of marketing functions.

Working with Northwest Industrial Resource Center (NWIRC), the proposed solution was to contract with Werkbot Studios, a third-party consultant who is well-versed in website upgrades focused on increased mobility. Deliverables included a functional redesign of Tech’s website and brand integration with service value. The site included Search Engine Optimization and will be measured for effectiveness through reduction in web visitation bounce rates, increase in throughput of targeted inquiries, increase in qualified RFQ requests, and an increase in new business revenues. In addition, with the competitive arena for workers, Tech is also actively seeking plastics processors and individuals looking to enter the precision molding trade to fill several open positions. This new site enables them to recruit more effectively.

Anticipated results include:

  • Increased Sales of $100,000
  • Retained Sales of $20,000
  • Cost Savings of $20,000
  • 6 Jobs Created and 120 Jobs Retained
  • Increased Investment totaling:
    • $150,000 in new products/processes
    • $400,000 in plant or equipment
    • $20,000 in IT
    • $15,000 in Workforce skills
    • Cost Avoidance of $15,000 in other investments

“The NWIRC has played an integral part in assisting our efforts at meeting our business objectives in IT,” said Mark Hanaway, Vice President of Marketing. “With the increased use of connectivity on mobile units, this website upgrade will help grow our business, gain new customers –and new employees—over the next several years!”
