The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has developed a new broadband map which displays where internet services are available across the United States.
The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released their National Broadband Map . The map displays where internet services are available across the United States, as reported by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) to the FCC. The map will be updated continuously to improve its accuracy through a combination of FCC verification efforts, new data from Internet providers, updates to the location data, and—importantly—information from the public.
Pennsylvania residents are encouraged to review and challenge the map to help improve its accuracy. You can review the step-by-step guide on How to Challenge the FCC Broadband Map.
The FCC has also identified a process to submit bulk challenges. To assist entities across the Commonwealth, PBDA created a Bulk Challenges Template (.xlsx) that may be used to submit bulk challenge information to PBDA. Upon submission of bulk challenge data PBDA will aggregate and then submit the bulk challenge data directly to the FCC for consideration. The template is designed to capture both location and availability challenges.
As a reminder, location challenges identify missing or incorrect addresses that are not accurately reflected on the National Broadband Map and availability challenges identify incorrect broadband service access/availability that is reflected on the National Broadband Map. The template provides a key which accurately displays how to input information and provides numeric codes for each challenge type. Please select the code that correctly corresponds to the reason for your challenge.
