Wolf Administration Tours State-Supported Community Revitalization Projects in Waynesboro, Franklin County
Waynesboro, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Deputy Secretary of Community Affairs Rick Vilello joined local leaders and stakeholders on a tour of state-supported community revitalization projects in Waynesboro, Franklin County.
“This is my first time in Waynesboro, and I’m blown away by the charm of the downtown,” said Deputy Secretary Vilello. “The residents here are filled with great ideas of how to move their community forward in a positive direction, and the state is happy to continue to support that vision.”
The tour, facilitated by Mainstreet Waynesboro, began at Main Street Park and followed a route through the downtown with stops at façade upgrades and lighting and pedestrian safety enhancements supported by state funding. Officials then visited the Ed Miller Memorial Trail, an extension of Memorial Park, which has received several upgrades funded by a Greenways, Trails, and Recreation grant.
“We’re happy to have representatives from DCED visit us in our community to see all the wonderful progress we’ve made thanks to their help and the community working together,” said Bill Kohler, Mainstreet Waynesboro director of economic development. “We truly value our partnership with the state to help us reach our goals as we move forward.”
