Wolf Administration Tours State-Supported Community Revitalization Projects in Downtown Easton, Northampton County
Easton, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin and Deputy Secretary of Community Affairs Rick Vilello joined local leaders and stakeholders on a downtown tour of state-supported community revitalization projects in Easton, Northampton County.
“It is inspiring to see so many positive changes happening at once in Easton,” said Secretary Davin. “The city is really showing what can happen when many organizations speak with one voice, and the state is proud to support that unified vision.”
The two-hour tour included a visit to the site of the former Days Inn, which will become the location of an expansion to the Da Vinci Science Center using a Keystone Communities Program grant; a look inside the R&H Simon Silk Mill, which is undergoing a rehabilitation into a mixed-use complex featuring 13 restaurants and retail storefronts, six art studios, and 78 apartments using Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program funds; and a trip through downtown, which has seen numerous façade improvements courtesy of a Keystone Communities Program grant supporting the Easton Main Street Initiative Façade Program. The visit to Easton was inspired by the Pennsylvania Downtown Center’s decision to name the Easton Main Street Initiative as the top-performing Pennsylvania Main Street program in 2018.
“We are excited to show Secretary Davin the renaissance taking place in our city attributed to our partnership with the state,” said Mayor Salvatore J. Panto Jr.
