Wolf Administration Celebrates Announcement of State-Funded Sports and Health Center

Pittsburgh, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Executive Deputy Secretary Neil Weaver joined officials from Highmark Health, the Allegheny Health Network (AHN), and other local and community leaders to announce plans to build the AHN Montour Health and Sports Medicine Center with funding from the Wolf Administration. Upon its completion in 2020, the health and sports complex will be one of the largest in the country.

“This center will bring many benefits to the community and the local economy, and the Wolf administration is proud to support it,” said Executive Deputy Secretary Weaver. “There’s a lot to be excited about in this region, and today’s groundbreaking gives us even more great news to celebrate.”

The new AHN Montour Health and Sports Medicine Center will be a one-of-a-kind, world-class complex that will bring additional health services into the community. The facility will provide close-to-home health care access and resources for patients in the region. The center will also offer primary care and pediatrics with walk-in express care and extended hours, seven days a week. The project is being supported by the Wolf Administration through $2.5 million in grants from the Redevelopment Capital Assistance Program. The construction is expected to be completed in 2020.

“The AHN Montour Health + Sports Medicine Center would not be possible without the ongoing support of the Wolf administration as well as our local officials,” said Tuffy Shallenberger, owner of the Pittsburgh Riverhounds. “With their investment, we’re able to build a health and sports complex that will be the envy of the country for both its scale and its connection to a world-class health system.”
