Wolf Administration Announces Funding to Enhance Transportation Infrastructure for Pennridge Airport Business Park in Bucks County
Harrisburg, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin announced the approval of new funding for infrastructure improvements that will enhance traffic flow to the Pennridge Airport Business Park in East Rockhill Township and Perkasie, Bucks County.
“When dealing with a project as significant as the Pennridge Airport Business Park, we on the state level have to ensure that our infrastructure supports the economic development potential of the park,” Secretary Davin said. “This is a great example of looking at economic development from every angle to maximize the positive impacts for the community and the region.”
Pennridge Development Enterprises, Inc. was approved for a $700,000 grant for roadway improvements that will widen a section of State Route 563 and provide much needed line of sight improvements along North Ridge Road in Perkasie Borough. The enhancements to this transportation corridor will improve public safety and facilitate traffic flow into the Pennridge Airport Business Park, a planned $60 million development on 260 acres next to Pennridge Airport. The business park is expected to create more than 1,500 new permanent jobs in the region upon full occupancy.
“The Pennridge Airport Business Park has enormous economic potential for this region and will bring significant growth to the area in the form of new infrastructure, state and local tax revenue and creation of over 1,500 permanent, family-sustaining jobs,” said Robert Brink, president of Pennridge Development Enterprises, Inc. “We appreciate the support of the Wolf Administration in helping to make this project possible.”
Funding for the project was provided by the Transportation Infrastructure Investment Funds (TIIF) program. The TIIF program is administered in cooperation with DCED and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT).
“Assisting our aviation community is an important part of PennDOT’s role in managing an effective transportation system for Pennsylvania,” said PennDOT Secretary Leslie S. Richards. “Enhancing access to Pennridge Airport Business Park will help this enterprise prosper and add to the region’s economy.”
