Secretary Davin Continues ‘Jobs That Pay’ Tour at Curbs Plus, Highlighting Governor Wolf’s Commitment to Pennsylvania Manufacturing

Harrisburg, PA – Today, Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) Secretary Dennis Davin continued the ‘Jobs that Pay’ tour at Curbs Plus, Inc., a manufacturer of roof curbs for HVAC units, highlighting Governor Tom Wolf’s commitment to supporting Pennsylvania manufacturing.

“It’s always exciting to visit a company that we’ve supported in the past, but it’s even more exciting in the case of Curbs Plus because of how successful this operation has been over the past year,” Secretary Davin said. “One of Governor Wolf’s top priorities is strengthening our manufacturing sector across the entire commonwealth, and Curbs Plus is a great example of a manufacturing company growing and thriving here in Pennsylvania.”

In February 2017, the Governor’s Action Team, an experienced group of economic development professionals who report directly to the governor and work with businesses that are considering locating or expanding in Pennsylvania, coordinated with Curbs Plus to announce plans to expand its operations into Pennsylvania and create 26 new manufacturing jobs over three years. The company has exceeded expectations, already creating 28 new full-time jobs in one year of operation. Today, Secretary Davin toured the facility and discussed Pennsylvania’s manufacturing sector with company executives.

“Curbs Plus is honored to have hosted Secretary Davin at our Mount Union facility,” said Heath Hinkle, sales manager at Curbs Plus. “We attribute our success to the fantastic team and leadership here in Mount Union. We are very grateful to the Mount Union community for such a warm welcome and to the Governor’s Action Team for their partnership in bringing this all together.”

Manufacturing is the third-largest industry in Pennsylvania, employing over 550,000 workers with an average salary of nearly $60,000. In October 2017, the administration launched Manufacturing PA, a new initiative to support manufacturing and link job training to career pathways. This initiative ensures that training leads not simply to any job, but to careers that provide higher pay and opportunities for advancement. Working with DCED’s strategic partners, including Industrial Resource Centers (IRCs), Pennsylvania’s colleges, universities, technical schools, and non-profit organizations, this initiative fosters collaboration and partnerships to accelerate technology advancement, encourage innovation and commercialization, and build a 21st century workforce.

Curbs Plus, Inc. is a manufacturer of conventional and pre-engineered metal building roof curbs, curb adapters, architectural equipment screens, and diffusers. From raw material to labor, Curbs Plus products are 100 percent American made.
