Pittsburgh, PA– Department of Community and Economic Development Secretary Dennis Davin today continued his “Jobs that Pay” tour at the business accelerators, AlphaLab and AlphaLab Gear, to highlight Governor Wolf’s commitment to support entrepreneurs and increase technology investments.
“State support for technology innovation has become increasingly important to ensure growth in this sector as it helps to rebuild the middle class,” said Davin. “Governor Wolf has proposed a budget that will continue to move Pennsylvania forward by creating a pro-business climate that supports Pennsylvania’s entrepreneurs and start-up companies.”
Governor Wolf’s 2015-16 budget will provide $100 million in technology investments to support entrepreneurs, established companies and manufacturing innovation through revenue from the severance tax on gas drilling.
“Pittsburgh has transformed into a technology hub where startups and maturing companies can grow successfully,” said Rich Lunak, president & CEO of Innovation Works. “Our accelerator programs, AlphaLab and AlphaLab Gear, plus our new program 412Build training high school innovator/entrepreneurs, tie in perfectly with Jobs That Pay. These resources will be greatly enhanced by the proposed increase in technology investments by Governor Wolf to assist more entrepreneurs and startups throughout the region.”
