Pennsylvania Showcases Investment Services at SelectUSA Investment Summit
In June 2017, the Pennsylvania’s Office of International Business Development (OIBD) traveled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the Select USA Investment Summit. The Summit brings the diversity of the United States together under one roof for a single event, enabling any business to find the people, the resources, and the market it needs to be successful. Seven local and regional partners joined OIBD at the Pennsylvania booth, including the City of Philadelphia, East Stroudsburg University, the Greater Reading Economic Partnership (GREP), Penn’s Northeast, the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance (PRA), Select Greater Philadelphia, and the Southern Alleghenies Planning & Development Commission (SAP&DC).
Together, Pennsylvania and its partners engaged with dozens of international companies from more than 50 markets. With coordinated follow-up, these companies will result in solid leads for foreign direct investment projects into Pennsylvania.
Meanwhile, while at the Select USA Investment Summit was taking place, Governor Tom Wolf issued a proclamation announcing Pennsylvania’s Open Investment Policy Statement. This proclamation commits Pennsylvania to establishing a welcoming environment for investment from global companies, providing support to ensure success of companies investing in the commonwealth.
The United States welcomes investors of all sizes, including established multinationals, small or medium-sized enterprises, and high-growth startups. Pennsylvania’s Office of International Business Development (OIBD) regularly works with local, regional and international partners to attract and retain these international companies by engaging with businesses in a variety of ways to showcase all of the opportunities in the commonwealth. The Select USA Investment Summit and the Governor’s Proclamation have provided another platform for Pennsylvania to convey the strong support available for business investment from abroad.
