Sector Spotlight Series: Information and Communication Technology (ICT) | Business Opportunities in Southeast Asia
Business Opportunities in Southeast Asia
October 26, 2021 - 8:30 am - 9:30 am EDT
Southeast Asia has the potential to be one of the top five digital economies in the world in 2025. Many of the key drivers to accelerate this growth are in place:
A robust economy with a GDP of nearly $3.2 trillion, making it the 5th largest economy in the world
A population of 656 million, with almost half of them under the age of 30
A smartphone penetration that has almost reached 80% in many of the key economies already
Although digital transformation has been underway for some time in the Southeast Asian region, the COVID-19 pandemic has accelerated the pace of digital adoption. In 2020, the COVID-19 pandemic added 40 million new internet users in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Thailand, and Vietnam, raising the number of internet users to 400 million. Southeast Asian tech start-ups are also now among the largest recipients of venture funding globally.
This webinar will cover key trends in the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) sector in Southeast Asia, and opportunities for Pennsylvania ICT, and related companies in the region.
